  1. Day 1 Dhaka

Today we’ll visit Old Dhaka, a place of bustling bazaars, incredibly narrow streets and packed with historic sights. We’ll go to the busy terminal on the Buriganga River – the artery of Dhaka and the lifeblood of the country. We’ll also visit the railway station – an experience in itself, with people riding on every conceivable part of the trains.  And, to top it off, we’ll also visit the ship breaking yard.  This gritty, grimy, muddy place is a graveyard for ships, and the hardworking men who work here strip these metal giants down with little more than hand held tools.  Even as an onlooker, the effort and pain that goes into this is palpable.  Overnight stay in Dhaka.

  2. Day 2 Busy riverside, local markets, in and around Dhaka

And today we will visit the Amin Bazar river bank, a super busy location where vast amounts of people load and unload brick, sand, coal and other cargo.  We will visit a brick factory – with all its colour and dust, and again, a place where hard and heavy work is non-stop. We’ll drop by the evening fish and vegetable markets and we’ll also visit the train tracks and interesting places nearby. Overnight stay in Dhaka.

  3. Day 3 Morning Train to Rajshahi

We take the morning train to Rajshahi, a city in the northern division of Bangladesh (an approximate 7 hour journey).  After lunch we’ll go to the Ganges river bank and some river islands for afternoon photography, and we finish today with an evening shoot in the busy streets of the city. Overnight stay in Rajshahi.

  4. Day 4 Move to Dinajpur

Today we drive to Dinajpur (an approximate 5 hour journey).  Dinajpur has some quaint and rural sights and a number of serene lakes surrounded by green countryside. If time permits there will be opportunities for photo shoots in the countryside along the way and on arrival in Dinajpur. Overnight stay in Dinajpur.

  5. Day 5 Bogra

The early morning will be spent in the countryside in Dinajpur, after which we will drive (an approximate 3 hour journey) to Bogra. We will spend the afternoon at a vibrant local market. Overnight stay in Bogra.

  6. Day 6 Bogra

Today we venture out early in the morning to visit the largest vegetable market in the region, where thousands of farmers come to sell their produce.  It really is an incredible sight and a hive of activity perfect for photographers.  We’ll also visit the very busy and old rail track area, after which we’ll drive (an approximate 90 minute journey) for an afternoon shoot on a river Island and visit local farmland and villages. Overnight stay in Bogra.

  7. Day 7 Mymensingh

Today we travel to Mymensingh (an approximate 4-5 hour journey).  The city is located on the Brahmaputra River and here we will visit more river islands, villages, a brick factory, and historic streets. Overnight stay in Mymensingh.

  8. Day 8 Srimangal

We journey east to Srimangal (an approximate 5 hour journey).  Srimangal is blessed with rolling green countryside, tea plantations, forests and wildlife.  We will visit rice processing plants, low lands, villages, tea plantations and tribal villages.  Srimangal offers a plethora of opportunity for photographers.  Overnight stay in Srimangal.

  9. Day 9 Sylhet

After an early morning visit to a tea plantation and villages where the tea pickers reside we will drive to Sylhet (an approximate 3 hour journey).  On route to Sylhet we will visit wetlands, the Surma River and villages along the way.  Sylhet is where the country’s tea production first began.  It has bustling streets and roadside markets but offers a ‘small town’ feel. Overnight stay in Sylhet.

  10. Day 10 Sylhet

We venture out early again today for a visit to a vegetable market and the old streets of Sylhet.  Later we spend a full day exploring the wetlands, rivers and villages of this area.  Overnight stay in Sylhet.

  11. Day 11 Chittagong

The day will be spent visiting markets and rural areas before boarding an overnight train bound for Chittagong (an approximate 8.5 hour journey).

  12. Day 12 Chittagong

Home to Bangladesh’s largest port and an area that stretches from forested hills and scenic lakes to sandy beaches and islands. You will be visiting Karnafuli riverside, fishermen villages, the railway station and a beach. There’s so much here to catch the photographer’s eye and we’ll be sure to take full advantage of this. Overnight stay in Chittagong.

  13. Day 13 Back to Dhaka

Early in the morning we will visit the largest fish market in Chittagong city – which is a wonderful place for photographers.  After this we will make our way to the airport to catch the afternoon flight to Dhaka. Overnight stay in Dhaka.

  14. Day 14 Return home

End of tour and departure as per individual flight schedules.

Yes.

It is not recommend to eat street food. Travelling in remote areas lends itself to eating at ‘basic’ restaurants and eateries. However, our experienced guide will be aware about your food safety.

Physical fitness is important for this trip as we will walk for several hours each day, and there will be many hours spent travelling by road.

Bangladesh is a super friendly place and people are very welcoming.   A woman can travel here quite safely and comfortably.
