Travelling by train is an exciting way to see both the local life and countryside of Bangladesh.  The train network began in Bangladesh during the British colonial period and now connects all major cities. The largest train station (Kamlapur) is located in Dhaka, and with 21 ticket counters and 8 platforms, it’s also the busiest station, with many thousands of people travelling through this station every day.  Whilst it has to be said that train services in Bangladesh are not up to international standard, many enthusiastic tourists use them.  If you like trains and adventure you’ll love this trip! Train stations are perpetually busy and you’ll likely see more people here than at any other railway station you have been to.This trip has been designed, and will be lead by our highly experienced adventure tour leader.

    All about the Bangladesh Tour by Train.

    Travelling by train is an exciting way to see both the local life and countryside of Bangladesh.  The train network began in Bangladesh during the British colonial period and now connects all major cities.     1. Day 1 Dhaka

      We start this trip with a full day tour of the buzzing metropolis of Dhaka.  Throughout the day you will visit the following places:  The National Parliament building (exterior only), Curzon Hall, Dhaka University, Dhakeswari Temple, Lalbagh Fort, Armenian Church of the Holy Resurrection, Star Mosque, Ahsan Manzil, Rickshaw art and Sadarghat river terminal – including a short boat ride.  Overnight stay in Dhaka.

    2. Day 2 Khulna

      We take the morning train to Khulna (approximate 8 hour journey). On arrival in Khulna we will take a pleasant evening walk followed by dinner in the city. Overnight stay in Khulna.

    3. Day 3 Khulna

      Today we have a full day excursion in the Sundarban forest and Bagerhat.  Overnight stay in Khulna.

    4. Day 4 Morning Train To Rajshahi

      All aboard the morning train to Rajshahi (approximate 6 hour journey).  Rajshahi is famous for its silk production and we will visit one of the silk factories to learn about the silk production process.  Later we go to the banks of the River Ganges to enjoy the beautiful sunset.  Overnight stay in Rajshahi.

    5. Day 5 Rajshahi

      We spend the day in Puthia and Natore and will travel by car.  Today you will visit the most beautiful temple city in Bangladesh and The Royal Palace. We will also make several other interesting stops along the way enabling you to discover local lifestyles.  Overnight stay in Rajshahi.

    6. Day 6 Morning Train To Dhaka

      Today we board the morning train for our return journey to Dhaka.  (an approximate 7-8 hour journey).  Enjoy the countryside as you go.  Overnight stay in Dhaka.

    7. Day 7 Morning Train To Sylhet

      Onward we go as we take the morning train to Sylhet (an approximate 7 hour journey).  More countryside to admire as your train effortlessly journeys north east.  On arrival there will be a short city tour in the afternoon and some time to rest before dinner.  Overnight stay in Sylhet.

    8. Day 8 Srimangal

      We travel by car on a full day excursion to Tamabil, Jaflong and Lalakhal.    All of these places are situated close to the Indian border against the majestic Indian hills.  Here you will visit the Surma River and witness stone harvesting activities.  The magical scenery in these destinations has made this area a favourite with both local and foreign tourists. We continue our journey on to Srimangal where we will stay overnight.

    9. Day 9 Srimangal

      An early start this morning for a trek through Lawachara National Park. This is the best time for a unique experience and to observe the wildlife. If you’re lucky you might catch sight of the endangered Hoolock Gibbon – there’s only around 200 left in Bangladesh and 60 of those are living in this park.  You’ll also visit a tribal village deep in the middle of the jungle.  In the afternoon we’ll visit Bikkabil where you will see the local life and beautiful landscape.  If time permits, you will also visit Madhabupur which is surrounded by lush tea plantations.

    10. Day 10 Afternoon Train To Dhaka

      This morning we take an early morning walk through the peaceful tea plantation before having breakfast. After breakfast we’ll visit a tea pickers village before returning to the accommodation in preparation for departure.  After lunch we drive to the train station and board the afternoon train to Dhaka. Overnight stay in Dhaka or transfer to airport for international flight.
